The kitchen floor is done!

Our kitchen floor was finished last week, I just couldn't get a good photo of the floor in the daylight.  The picture kept coming out overexposed and I was having trouble capturing the the color and character of the wood .

I didn't want to delay my post any longer so here are my best shots.  I love the floor.

It added a 1/2" to the flooring and at first I could tell the difference when I stood at the counter, but I got used to the height difference already.

Now I've started the search for a new kitchen table.
I thought it would be easy to find a table, but because I have a bakers rack on one wall and shelving on the other wall, our table dimension requirements are smaller than standard table sizes.
So the game is afoot...  the hunt is on.

Echos in the kitchen

Our kitchen is so empty we practically echo in it.
It's all cleaned up for the flooring guys who will show up at 8:30 am tomorrow.

The cat was a bit freaked out when she walked in to the empty room.  She even sniffed at her food to make sure it was the same old stuff.  wait till all the hammering starts tomorrow.  We've tried to warn the kitty cat, but she just won't listen!

A delivery is made

Our kitchen floor was delivered today!

It will be installed in 2 days, on Wednesday, but was delivered early to acclimate the wood to the temperature of our home.

I selected engineered hardwood with tongue and groove construction.  It has aluminum oxide finish for durability.  Made by Mullican.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here. :)

Change is my friend

I already decided I wanted to use a different book for my Book of Lists.

Someone once hand made a blank book for me.  It's been sitting on my shelf just waiting for inspiration.

So rather than be anxious about using it up, I've decided not to let the pages rot on the shelf but use the book for my 30 Days of Lists, and love it in the spirit it was designed for.

An adventure in the works. Starting Dec 1st.

I've signed up for another adventure!
I am hoping this adventure will keep me focused on my daily life which passes in a blur.  A month flies by and I seem to barely notice because I'm so caught up in routine.

I've signed up for 30 Days of Lists, and it begins on December 1st.

This is a form of journaling.  A prompt to create a list everyday.  I can keep it as simple as 1. 2. 3. or expand with photos and writing.  There are no rules to follow.
It's another form of creativity.  A small piece of excitement to pull me out of the daily doldrums, even if it's for just 5 - 10 minutes.
I'll post about my new adventure.  This is the journal book I'll use.  Photo booth turned the words backwards, like a mirror.  Funny!

Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing everyone a warm, cozy, comfortable  and tummy filling Thanksgiving Day!

What am I Thankful for you ask?  everything

  1. My new grandson
  2. My family and friends
  3. My creativity and love of all things fiber, texture and color
  4. The life I was born into.  I can eat or drink anytime I want.  I have solid walls and a roof over my head to keep me warm and dry.
  5. My job
  6. My library.  Books are a treat and to have them free to take and read anytime is a treasure.
  7. The adventures that I've had the opportunity to take, in my own home town and in my travels.
  8. and for my DH, Gary, who knows all my quirks and foibles.  He's slow to anger, patient and non-judgement and accepts and loves me in spite of all my shortcomings.  I couldn't ask for a better man.
I will print this and hang it in my kitchen.  Hopefully it will catch my eye if I begin to grumble about what I don't have or can't have.

I have all I need.  I am loved.

Happy Thanksgiving to all
