The Celtic Trinity knot

I created this pendant for the Ohio Beaders February Challenge.  The challenge was to create something from ancient civilizations, but I couldn't find anything that attracted me going back further in time than the Celtic knot.
Celtic knots started appearing in history after about 450 AD;

The Celtic knot or the Triquetra symbol is also referred to as the mystic knot, or the endless knot. The more esoteric or spiritual meaning of this symbol eludes to beginnings and endings. Celtic knots have no beginning or end, reminding of the timeless nature of our spirit.

Knit A-long

The Berea Grindstone Knitters are doing a mystery knit a-long together.  So far we've been given part 1 & 2.  The pattern is turning out darling.... but..  see my progress below?   It has taken me 5 tries to get it right.  That includes trying 3 different yarns and 4 rip outs.

My guess is it will be a cowl.  I can't wait for the set of instructions.  Knit alongs are a lot of fun!

Estate Jewelry Fun

My sister goes to auctions now and then and the last time she bought a 'Lot' of jewelry from an estate sale.  She let me help her sort the lot.  It was so much fun looking at all the jewelry.  some good pieces - some not so good.

I did get to take some home.  I'll try to incorporate these bits and pieces into either my Bead Journal Project or to re-use and create some new jewelry piece from the old.

Basic Diamonds Dishcloth

Here is another dishcloth pattern from the knitted dishcloth book I've been working through.
I forgot to take a photo of it before I mailed it out as part of a birthday gift to a fellow Ohio Beader and friend.  It's 100% cotton with a great striping pattern.
Here it is as a WIP

Year of Jewelry Project Week 7

This week I used the theme Violet (which was meant for week 8) so I'll flip my weekly themes for this time.

It has a peyote stitch base then I loaded it with lucite flowers, Swars, glass leaves and beads. It has a lot of color in person, but my camera can't capture the purple as well as I hoped.

Happy Valentines Day and Week 7 of YOJP

I was happily surprised with flowers when I got home today.
Plus, these flowers SMELL fantastic.  I was amazed since many times in the past flowers have had little or no scent at all.

I finished a choker necklace for Week 7 for the Year of Jewelry project.  I stayed with last week's theme "Amore" since this week does have the love day in it.
I think it has a very romantic look to it.
That's Amore. :)

Year of Jewelry Project - Week 6

This weeks suggested theme is "Amore".
I wanted to combine the two hobbies I love - knitting and beading.
I used a linen stitch to knit the bracelet, then I added some little glass flowers.

Adding chain to knitting is something new I've been wanting to try, and I'm please with the look on this piece.

Earlier while playing with polymer clay I had created the green heart,  I covered it in glitter and then a two part epoxy resin to shine it up.
It's very fun to wear.

Year of Jewelry Project - Week 5

The suggested theme for week 5 is Down and Dirty.

Every time I thought about “down and dirty” I kept coming up with the image of dirty slushy streets when a big snow starts melting. Then I thought of a little fairy falling down in the dirty slush and so my Down and Dirty fairy was born.

Rainbows in my Kitchen

Every year for Christmas, Mr. G gives me a Swarovski Snowflake.  They are each 2 - 3" in diameter.

I hang them in my kitchen window so the sun can shine on them.

When the sun hits them in the afternoon, I have a kitchen full of rainbows.  The camera has a hard time picking up the rainbow colors in each dot you see on my wall and ceiling, but the room is colorful.

It makes me smile every time I see them.  I feel energized and renewed :)
