Garden Center

We went to our local garden center.  I was hoping to see rows and rows of plants, but we were too early.  There was a lot of open space and just a few flowers.
I think it would be very interesting to work in a garden center.  Always (or almost always) surrounded by color and the wonderful smells of fresh dirt, plants and flowers.

I'm going to try to design a peyote stitch seed bead cuff bracelet with this pretty pink flower.  Anyone know what the flower name is?  I should have asked the people at the garden center. duh.  I don't even know what the blue ones are called.

Last Call for Chilli

This is probably the last time season I'll make Chilli.  We love home made chilli but only when it's chilly out :)   and it looks like the thermometer is slowly creeping its way up. (yay)

Our chilli is a bit different, I add hot italian sausage along with the ground beef.  I also add carrots, celery, garlic, tarragon and red or yellow sweet peppers - along with the normal ingredients.  I definitely add more chilli powder than is called for in any recipe I've found.  G requested potato chunks in this batch.  the idea went against every thought I had about chilli, but I put them in for him anyway.  {{{what a girl has to do}}}
Add a couple of warmed, crunchy whole wheat ciabatta rolls and we're warmed up for the night.

Spring Flowers

My favorite Spring flowers are white.  Something about the pure whiteness of the petals triggers a happy memory -but I just can't grasp it from my subconscious - something to do with Easter I think.

Maybe the excitement of searching for the Easter basket, or seeing the tasty Easter cake in the shape of a lamb covered with butter cream frosting and coconut flakes.

He Loves Me

I found a beautiful bunch of flowers waiting for me when I came home from work.

My Gary is such a sweetie.  No - he didn't do anything wrong and I didn't do anything especially right.  He just loves me.  awwww.  :)

Veggie Rice Noodle Bowl

YUM.  This is one of my favorite veggie meals.  Even Gary likes it and when it's all veggies and no meat it has to be good for him to give it a thumbs up.
It has carrots, red peppers, cucumber, celery, napa cabbage and apple.  I cooked up some rice noodles, make a quick dressing with soy sauce, ginger, lemon juice, salt and pepper and some other spices.  again YUM!

My Process in Creating

Once I decide on what I want to make, it's a matter of choosing just the right colors, shapes, textures and sizes that will become my next piece of jewelry.

Then I make sure any that needs wire wrapping gets attention and sort them out - usually by color.  If I'm making a charm bracelet, I actually lay each piece out in order along the chain to make sure I have enough bead charms.  Then I resort and start in the middle.

Here is another beaded charm I just finished.

Back to the Grind

Here we are again.
My desk at work.  Snoopy just waiting to say good morning - where's my coffee.
Maybe I should change things up at get back to gym - work out at 6:00 am before going to work.  ugh.  Maybe tomorrow.

Confessions of a Beadaholic

I have finally decided I am not only a bead collector, I'm a bead hoarder.
I love beads in all colors, shapes, sizes, dimensions and textures.

I use the excuse that I make jewelry to keep buying more beads.

Here's my stash

It's going to take a long time to use up all these beads.

Thank goodness I don't have an obsession to collect something larger.
If I collected dolls this way, I'd have rooms filled up.
If I collected books this way, I'd have all my walls filled with overflowing bookshelves.

I guess I should start making more jewelry, so I can go buy more beads. :)

Wag the Tail

Another Sunday walking the dogs at the animal shelter.
The good news is -- the dogs I've photographed in earlier blogs and been adopted to loving families.
The bad news  -- there are always more dogs found left in parking lots or just abandoned.  there are always new dogs at the shelter that love to go for walks.

This is Abigail.  A sweet little girl, would love a yard to romp around in and a family to love.  She pulled a bit while walking but had some training.  She understood hand commands for down and sit.

It was a beautiful day for a walk - even in the cold.  We had a blast of snow yesterday that left a winter wonderland.

ABC Wednesday - G is for Grapefruit

yes, I know it's Thursday.  G is still for Grapefruit.

I love ruby red grapefruits.
and here is my favorite way to eat them

1.  Cut off both end and score lengthwise all around.
2.  peel off the outer rind and open it up.
3.  slide a sharp knife under the separator skin and slice it off toward the center.

4.  peel the skin away from the fruit and using the knife, lift the fruit away.
5.  enjoy and repeat.
